  • Poultry Manager

    We are based in central somerset in a small village with excellent local amenities, schools, shops and a local post office and good transport links.

    Steanbow Farms are a reputable family-run enterprise operating a Poultry, Dairy and Arable farm across 1500 acres near Glastonbury, Somerset. We rear up to three million broiler birds a year, supplying Avara Foods. Our poultry sheds are well invested, supported with biomass boilers and solar panels.

    We are committed to sustainability and have both short - and long-term plans to reduce our carbon footprint while producing sustainable food.

    Job Role as Poultry Manager:

    - Working Farm Manager looking after 4 sheds with a poultry assistant roughly 150,00 birds over 1 site

    - Stockperson work, promoting high animal welfare standards

    - Production performance, reporting any concerns to poultry management

    - Monitor animal health and behaviour, identify welfare concerns, and liaise with veterinary professionals as required

    - Maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to animal health, medication movement and welfare.

    - Within a team of 6 over 3 sites and collaborating with the wider Steanbow team

    - Ensuring a clean, tidy and well-maintained environment, adhering to excellent biosecurity protocols.

    - Overseeing the management and ordering of feed and sundries.

    Qualities we are looking for:

    - A strong leader who is friendly, supportive with great communication skills willing to take the team with them and willing to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in.

    - Demonstrate excellent knowledge of broiler husbandry and production practices.

    - Strong attention to detail. No detail is too small when it comes to poultry.

    - Trustworthy, reliable and punctual.

    - Flexible, working patterns can vary due to the nature of the job so flexibility is essential.

    - Have a desire to develop or already have staff management experience.

    Qualifications & Licenses required:

    - A full UK Driving license.

    - Proof of UK right to work

    - Level 3 poultry qualification preferred

    What we can offer:

    - c. £40,000 per annum, dependent on your experience
